What exactly is Dining With Friends?
Dining With Friends is a private dinner party fund raising campaign that takes place in February. It is part of the I Said RED series of events that benefit ACS. Supporters of ACS host private dinner parties and guests bring monetary donations to AIDS Care Service.
When are parties held?
Parties are held in the month of February. The deadline for turning in donations is Thursday, March 5, 2009. On that day at the administrative office we will hold a drop in thank-you party for hosts between 4:30 – 6:00 pm. Donations can be turned in at this party, or ACS can pick them up for you prior.
Does it have to be formal style or can it be potluck?
Your party can be whatever you want it to be. Cook everything yourself, bring desserts to lunch at your workplace, or invite your guests to a potluck. You can even throw parties with a theme, such as a “Love Feast” or an “I said RED! Hot Chili” party. Often, but not always, hosts incorporate red, the AIDS awareness color, into their menus. Be as creative as you would like to be. All efforts, small and large, are appreciated.
Can I get help hosting the party?
Yes, you could recruit a co-host, organize a party at a church or civic club, or invite your co-workers to a celebration at your workplace.
Are my expenses tax-deductible?
Donations to ACS are tax-deductible. We believe the IRS will consider the expenses of hosting a fund raising event tax-deductible. Please consult your tax advisor if you have questions.
How will ACS help me if I host a party?
ACS will supply invitations, (printed or electronic), and informational materials such as entree recipes and dessert recipes. Host kits will be available at the public kick-off event, to be held Friday, January 9, 2009 from 6:00 – 7:30 pm at Wine Merchants Gourmet in Winston-Salem.
