The Food Pantry gives groceries to HIV+ individuals and their families. It currently serves more than 200 people every month. Every Thursday, volunteers help ACS staff distribute the food. We ensure that special dietary needs are considered when allocating the nutritious, fresh food items.
Food Pantry facts:
- The Food Pantry distributed enough food in the last year to serve 40,728 nutritious meals.
- An average 125 clients plus their families (another 95 individuals) receive free groceries each month.
- Of those clients, 31% have no income.
- A single order fills three paper grocery bags and is for one to three individuals.
- A double order is five bags and is for four individuals in one home.
- A triple order is six bags and is given when there are five or more in the home.
- Approximately 500 grocery bags are packed each month to distribute.
- A single order is packed by volunteers and takes 4 minutes and 27 seconds to pack!
